Cleo & Bonnie haven't logged this one yet. The line is ours, drawn on the paths OpenStreetMap has here. Nobody from the project has walked it for the site yet.

By train

Up to two dogs travel free with each passenger. Dogs stay on a lead on the train and at the station, and never on the seats.

National Rail Conditions of Travel, condition 24 (valid from 30 July 2026); National Rail's station pages.

The stiles

A beach and a track, so none are expected, but this line has not been walked for the site and there is no count.

Livestock

None expected on the beach or the track.

The ground

Flat: the shingle of the beach, then a track and path back beside the railway (as OpenStreetMap maps them). The beach shelves steeply and the tide runs along the shore. Ground in the ruins is rough and hasn't been checked on the ground.

For dogs

We found no dog rule for Tide Mills from any council or landowner, and it's well outside Seaford's summer beach ban, which only covers the stretch from Frankie's Beach Café west to Edinburgh Road. There are no lifeguards,, and weever fish are found at the Newhaven end of the bay.

Walked it with your dog? Tell us how it was

Mud, animals, how busy: a few taps. The answers (never your words or name) show here for three weeks, to help the next walker.

The route

Start Bishopstone station

The line is on our map. It goes from Bishopstone station west along the beach past Tide Mills towards the harbour, then back through the ruins and along the path beside the railway. The distance is the length of that line, and the time is an estimate for an easy stroll. Neither has been paced out on the ground.

Lewes Dogs. The history is from Wikipedia's Tide Mills article · History read 27 Oct 2026; dog rules from our beaches research (Seaford's byelaw, read 3-5 Oct 2026). The line from OpenStreetMap, read 27 Oct 2026.
